It’s spooky season once again and so much fun to be had, even at home. Not everyone likes to go out for Halloween and many have enjoyed celebrations in the comfort of their own home, especially since they became the norm during the pandemic. Here are some ways to enjoy and celebrate Halloween with loved ones at home.
Dress up in costumes
One of the highlights of Halloween is dressing up in costumes. Even if you aren’t going to a costume party, you can still dress up at home. It’s a fun activity from planning your costume, piecing it together, and wearing it on the day. Small kids and even teens will enjoy playing dress-up, so it’s a fun affair for all ages.
Carve pumpkins
Pumpkin carving is a staple at Halloween and fun for the whole family. October is pumpkin harvest season so they are easy to find and cheaper at this time of year. Take a trip to the farmer’s market and select a few pumpkins to get your carving skills on. You can create unique designs, put electric candles in them to add some ambient lighting, or paint them. Then, you can decorate your front window or garden with your creations and admire your handiwork.
Watch scary movies
Scary movies are a must at Halloween time. Choose from classic Halloween films or new releases and have a night reserved for a scary movie marathon. Complete the experience with popcorn and sweets! You can even invite family and friends over if you feel comfortable and it’s always great to have company to watch a horror film!
Tell ghost stories
Take a page out of the classic campfire ghost story tradition for Halloween. Turn all the lights off and pull out some flashlights for an eerie setting as you share ghost stories with your loved ones. You can also take it up a level for fun and have a story-telling contest to see who comes up with the spookiest tale, complete with a prize set aside for the winner.
Prepare a Halloween themed dinner
You can get into the groove of Halloween and decorate your home with Halloween ornaments and set a spooky table for a Halloween feast. Whether you opt to order home delivery from a local restaurant or have fun concocting at-home recipes, it’s sure to be delicious. You can also combine a Halloween-themed dinner with wearing costumes and make a mini dinner party out of it with some Halloween-themed cocktails.
Kids can celebrate too
If you have young kids at home who may be easily spooked by the usual Halloween decorations like skeletons and spiders, include some lighter aspects of the season. Engage in cute crafting projects for kids which focus on less scary elements or how about a Halloween dance party? Many streaming services will have special playlists for Halloween. There are also many fun Halloween games for kids that are easy to play and arrange, and adults can join in also!
Halloween at home celebrating with loved ones can be lots of fun and a great way to enjoy this spooky time.
