At last Spring is here and after what has seemed like a long dark winter there is light at the end of the tunnel (literally) thanks to brighter evenings now the clocks have gone forward. Add to that the new buds of life from plants, trees, and the reappearance of colour in the garden, you can’t help but feel optimistic and excited about the coming months. Today I want to focus on the sheer joy of Spring and all the reasons why this season is so special.
The Weather
Let’s start with the obvious – the weather. After months of frigid temperatures and dark skies, there’s nothing quite like a sunny day, even if it is still chilly, a day where the sun shines simply makes everyone feel better. You can finally dump the winter coat and boots and instead slip into a light jacket and shoes. I recommend wearing something colourful to really make you feel part of the season.
The Beauty
Spring is an incredibly beautiful time. After the long sleep of winter, the world comes alive with colour and vitality, as trees begin to bud and flowers bloom. Suddenly that patch of grass that you walk by each day is a sea of daffodils and if you’re lucky enough to live near a park or area of natural beauty, there’s even more to marvel at – from the delicate blossoms on cherry trees to the vibrant greens of newly sprouted leaves, there’s no shortage of natural wonders to enjoy.
New Beginnings
Spring is a time of new beginnings and as we wrote in a previous blog “Spring Clean Your Life – Top Tips”, it’s a chance to shake off the old and embrace the new, whether that means starting a new project, trying a hobby, or just making a fresh start in some area of your life. As the world around us wakes up from its winter slumber, we are reminded that this is an excellent time to recharge, re-energise and get ready for the coming months.
The Food
While many vegetables and fruit are available all year round, nothing can beat eating them when they are actually in season. And buying seasonal fruit locally supports our farmers and is more environmentally friendly. Seasonal Spring fare include asparagus, artichokes, peas, new potatoes, and strawberries. You can easily find recipes online, and BBC Good Food cannot be recommended enough.
Friends and Family
The better weather also brings more opportunities to connect with friends and family. Whether it’s getting together for the Easter break or just enjoying a picnic in the park, Spring is a time for togetherness and connection. And we can all appreciate being able to simply be with our loved ones especially when not so long ago this was not possible. True we all did the videocalls, but nothing beats in person interactions.
There are so many reasons to embrace the joy of Spring and I hope this blog has given you a few pointers and we feel that after the last few months we all need to get out there and enjoy this season of renewal and possibilities!
