Showing Your Mum You Care This Mother’s Day

Since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, many families, friends and loved ones have had to get acclimatised to social distancing or being separated due to restrictions and border closures. As Mother’s Day 2021 rolls around, the world is still experiencing such protocols. In order to protect the vulnerable and high-risk groups of people such as elders and people with medical conditions, many family members have had to limit their exposure to their loved ones out of caution. Don’t let being separated from your Mum prevent you from celebrating Mother’s Day on the 14th of March. You can still show your Mum you care even though you’re apart this Mother’s Day!

  • Send her Flowers –Order a bouquet of her favourite flowers and have them delivered to her doorstep with a loving and heartfelt card.
  • Video Call – If you are stuck outside the borders or self-isolating due to lockdown or illness, give your Mum a call via Zoom or other video communication platforms to let her know you are thinking of her and how much you care.
  • Have food delivered to her house –Let Mum take a day off from cooking by sending a delivery of her favourite food to her home so that she can enjoy a day of relaxation and not worry about chores.
  • Gift certificate – Give Mum an online gift certificate to shop for clothing, home décor or other items she loves and have delivered to her home. This way, your Mum can choose items she might need or just things she prefers.
  • Pay for online classes for a hobby she enjoys – Set your Mum up with an online class to learn a cool new skill such as cooking exotic food or doing yoga with an online trainer.
  • Send gifts to her – If you can’t deliver your gifts to her in person, send them in the post or via courier. You can also encourage other family members or siblings to do the same so that on Mother’s Day your Mum will awaken to a doorstep full of tokens and presents from her loved ones who are far away.
  • Plan a post-lockdown trip together – We are all missing travel right now. Instead of feeling sad about this, why not use the time to plan an amazing trip for you and your Mum. It will give you both something to look forward to, a wonderful adventure to bond and make up for all the time spent apart due to travel restrictions.  It is certainly a great gift for your Mum.

Show Love Everyday

Mums should be celebrated every day and you should let your Mum know how much you appreciate her as often as possible. While being separated is tough, don’t let the distance deter you from reaching out, even if it’s just a simple phone call at the end of the day. If your Mum lives alone, it’s even more important to maintain frequent communication especially during uncertain times due to the pandemic. Whichever way you decide to celebrate, Mother’s Day will be cherished by your Mum and she will definitely feel loved and valued!
