The hustle and bustle of day-to-day life can be too much sometimes. Trying juggle long work hours, take care of your household and fulfil your social obligations can be exhausting. However, despite how hectic life can be, there are small habits you can practice to make life better and your days less stressful.
Drink more water
If there’s one thing most people neglect it’s proper hydration. Our bodies need water to ensure our organs and internal systems function properly. We often forfeit drinking water and choose fizzy drinks and other high sugar beverages to have with our meals or when we simply feel thirsty. These drinks do more harm than good. Try to drink more water daily as you go about your day and limit the sugary stuff. You’ll soon experience all the great benefits from drinking enough water.
Eat fruits
Fruits are nature’s candy. However, unlike candy, fruits are beneficial to health. Eat some fruits every day, at breakfast, or as a snack during the day. Fruits contain many essential vitamins such as Vitamin C and provide hydration, fibre content and taste delicious!
Make time to exercise
Apart from being good for your overall well-being, exercise is also a form of stress relief and relaxation. Even if you only have 10 mins to exercise, you can fit in some morning yoga stretches. Practicing deep breathing alone is enough to wake up your brain! Regular daily exercise of any kind keeps you in shape, boosts your mood, and makes you feel good. When you feel good, you are more productive, generally happier, and more relaxed.
Let the light in
The first thing you can do when getting up in the morning is to pull back the curtains and let natural light flood your room. Natural sunlight is linked to better moods, happiness, and good health. Especially when Winter rolls around, you should try your best to lighten up your household and let the light shine through!
Keep a tidy home
Have you ever come home from a long, hard day at work only to meet a pile of dishes in the sink or an overflowing laundry basket? After being out all day, no one readily has the zeal or motivation to do chores. If you adopt a daily habit of cleaning up as you go, it will make life a lot easier. Start by washing dishes right after you’ve used them or packing your clothes away after you pull them out of the dryer. The same goes for other easily neglected household chores. If you do a little bit every day, it will save you time and reduce the workload.
Start a journal
Journaling is a wonderful way to unwind after a long day or to start your day on a positive note. Journaling helps you to organize your thoughts, expand on ideas and goals and reflect on your day-to-day life. If you aren’t good at expressing your feelings, writing them down is helpful and you will eventually gain fluency.
Remember, there is always something you can do to make your life better, it doesn’t have to be a grand routine, but every small effort counts towards a healthier, happier, and more productive you!
